Karen & Nick’s Backyard Wedding | Sainte-Marie-de-Kent

There’s nothing better than when your clients become your friends. That is exactly what happened with Karen and Nick. When Karen sent me her first email telling me about her wedding, she mentioned that she was also a local photographer. I’m not gonna lie – I got a little nervous. I mean, photographing weddings is a lot of pressure on its own, but photographing another photographer’s wedding takes it to a whole new level. Then I met with Karen in person and I knew it would be amazing to photograph her wedding. Something just clicked between the two of us and we became fast friends. We met up as often as we could to discuss wedding details and photography, and I started to feel like I’d known her all my life. During the engagement session, Nick and Shawn bonded over geeky, techy stuff and everything flowed from there. When their wedding day finally arrived, Karen and Nick’s hard work, DIYing, and detailed planning paid off. The weather was perfect, every detail was amazing and flowed with the next, and the ceremony didn’t leave anyone with a dry eye. Oh, and did I mention they had the coolest hippie van ever?! We were honoured to capture every moment. Since then, Karen and I have even travelled to St. Louis together to bond over our own geeky photography stuff. I guess you just never know where life will take you!
